Itabuna is taken a bath by Cachoeira river that is going to Atlantic Ocean through the Basin of the Point, in Ilhéus. The name Itabuna was inspired in the stones of their rocks that border their 12 km inside of the city. Itabuna, to 400 km to the south of Salvador, is the main pole of businesses of the Cocoa Coast, concentrating the financial movement of the whole area.
The city is the regional pole of trade, with more than 10 thousand companies; of services of health, with hospitals and clinics only compared to the of Salvador; and of education, with two universities and a fort medium teaching. Itabuna is also the one of better infrastructure.
Itabuna is in a strategic location, in the confluence of two federal highways, BR-101, serving to the south and the north, and BR-415, going from east to west. Besides, there are an international port and an airport the only 26km of distance, in the city of Ilhéus.
The trade is the strong point in Itabuna, dynamic and always in growth, but the city also bill with industries of medium load, cattle and cocoa.
Inhabited for a hospitable people, that it likes to receive visitors, Itabuna knows how to capture the people, for that it is formed in good part by migrants.
The night life in Itabuna is cheerful and busy, with hundreds of bars, restaurants and events during the whole year.
